How to find the qi point (chi point, cosmic eye) and how to inhale from here

q = the qi-point, about 2 centimeters in front of the second and third vertebra of the sacral bone

  1. Please lay down on the floor or al solid mattress, relax your back and spread your legs apart, leaving plenty of space between your feet
  2. exhale quietly and fully without doing your best; let your energies flow through your legs and feet while exhaling, following the flow with your attention
  3. put your hands horizontally on your abdomen, loosely, without pushing
  4. let both your ring-fingers rest against the pelvic bone (so, just above it) and your middle fingers against your ring-fingers; your index-fingers against your middle fingers; there may be some space between these three fingers of the right hand and those of the left hand (see to it that your elbows can rest on the floor or mattress)
  5. feel the breathing movement in the abdominal area under your hands
  6. when inhalation starts, let the rising movement begin under your index-fingers - so, at three fingers widths above your pelvic bone
  7. feel how the movement made by the new incoming breath becomes all around - not only at the front side of your abdomen but also left and right and at your back side, even under the lowest tail bone and in your perineum; feel how the skin behind and in front of your anus, as well as this circular muscle itself, is being moved a little just by inhaling, as if you are breathing until into your bottom
  8. just exhale quietly and let your energy flow again through your legs and feet into the space or ground beyond your feet; feel how your pelvic bottom relaxes and wait until the next inhalation starts by itself
  9. go with your attention inside the abdominal space from the spot between your index-fingers, try to feel the internal space behind this spot; the qi point is right in the back of the abdominal space, almost against the sacral bone; it's possible that you'll feel a little fountain of energy that starts radiating from there
  10. allow the little fountain to become a bowl of energy, the bottom of which falls together with the skin of your pelvic bottom - feeling like a soft, warm 'cloud of relaxation' - and feel how this 'cloud' expands all by itself through your legs and feet while exhaling.
  11. Maybe you will not experience all of this immediately, but practice makes perfect. Don't try to do your best, force creates tension and makes it difficult! Just repeat the procedure until you feel that the inhalation starts rising deep down there, all by itself, and until you notice that you let the exhalation go in a quite relaxed and natural manner. It may be useful to seek some assistance by a breath therapist, preferably someone who is trained by Hetty Draayer or is familiar with the exercises she presented.
